Japanese Threadleaf Maple, South Lawn

This photograph of a Japanese threadleaf maple was taken by Erik Kvalsvik in 1996. The tree was planted near the South Fountain in 1893 by Frances Folsom Cleveland. The White House Grounds are an arboretum, and Japanese maples are a favorite of many administrations.
